If your Saphe does not show speed or speed signs – or shows them incorrectly – it may be because your phone’s GPS needs to be reset. It may also be that the speed is displayed in miles instead of kilometres. Follow the instructions for your phone type below.
iPhone
Reset the phone’s GPS
- Open "Settings" on your iPhone.
- Go to "General".
- Select "Transfer or Reset iPhone".
-
Select "Reset".
Important: DO NOT select "Erase All Content and Settings".
- Select "Reset Location & Privacy". Enter your passcode if prompted.
- Tap "Reset Settings".
Then restart your iPhone.
Allow Bluetooth and location again
After restarting, open the Saphe Link app and allow the use of Bluetooth again:
- Open "Settings" on your iPhone again.
- Go to "Apps".
- Select "Saphe Link".
- Tap "Location" and set it to "Always".
Switch between miles and kilometres
If your Saphe T shows incorrect speeds or speed signs, it may also be because the speed is displayed in miles instead of kilometres:
- Open the Saphe Link app.
- Go to "Menu".
- Select "General Settings".
- Choose "Kilometres" or "miles" under "Distance and speed".
Your Saphe will now display the speed in the chosen unit.
Android
If your Saphe T does not show speed or speed signs – or shows them incorrectly – it may be necessary to reset the phone’s GPS.
Note: Normally we do not recommend third-party apps, but we make an exception here as it can otherwise be difficult or impossible to fix the GPS on an Android phone.
Reset the phone’s GPS (recommended method)
- Open "Google Play Store".
- Search for "GPS Status & Toolbox", or tap here.
- Tap "Install".
- Open the app once installation is complete.
- You will be asked if the app may use GPS. Tap "Allow all the time" – you can change this or uninstall the app afterwards.
- Leave the phone lying still on a table while you do the following and until it is fully completed.
- Open the menu by swiping from the right side of the screen towards the middle twice, and tap the three lines in the top left corner.
- Tap "Manage A-GPS state".
- Tap "Reset", and wait 5–7 minutes while the app resets the phone’s GPS.
- Restart your phone.
Can’t download the app?
You can instead do the following:
- Open "Google Maps" on your phone.
- Tap the blue circle showing your location.
- Tap "Calibrate" in the menu that appears.
- Follow the phone’s guide asking you to scan around.
- Restart your phone.
Switch between miles and kilometres
If your Saphe T shows incorrect speeds or speed signs, it may also be because the speed is displayed in miles instead of kilometres:
- Open the Saphe Link app.
- Go to "Menu".
- Select "General Settings".
- Under "Location", the function must be turned off for the display to be in km/h.
